Marine Radioactivity Training Workshop 2026
Xiamen, China
October 25–29, 2026
01

Background
Hosted by Xiamen University and Fujian Ocean Innovation Center, this five-day international training workshop provides intensive instruction on marine radioactivity. It was originally developed during the Rio5 SCOR Working Group (https://scor-int.org/group/146/) and aims to foster knowledge exchange and capacity building across the ocean science community.
The workshop is designed for university students, early-career researchers, and professionals who are interested in, or will pursue research and/or management positions that require knowledge of radioactivity and its application in ocean sciences. Participants will gain both theoretical knowledge and practical experience through lectures, laboratory activities, and field sampling exercises.
This training workshop was first organized at Xiamen University in 2016. The 2026 edition marks the 10th anniversary of the program, continuing a series of successful international training events held in Xiamen (China, 2016), Paris (France, 2017), Puerto Rico (USA, 2019), Joondalup (Australia, 2019), and Selangor Darul Ehsan (Malaysia, 2024).
